Selecting the Variables

Selecting the Variables

Select what is to be predicted as the 'output' and the variables to be used to make the prediction as the 'inputs'.

Any variable not loaded in at this stage will be unavailable to the model. Variables that are selected at this stage can subsequently be removed if they are not required to be in the model.

1 . data files, tables, queries or worksheetsdata files, tables, queries or worksheets

Select the required view of the data. For the demonstration data supplied, select the table called 'Iris'.

2 . Numeric InputsNumeric Inputs

Use the buttons to move variables from the 'available' list to the 'selected' list. For the demonstration data, (I) indicates an input.

3 . OutputOutput

If the selected output has only two distinct values, then it could be a classification problem, and more modelling algorithms will subsequently be available. For the demo data, select 'Versicola (O)'.

4 . Text Fields or 'Markers'Text Fields or 'Markers'

Text fields can be used as model inputs for some of the classification algorithms.

A 'Marker' can be text or numeric, and is a point 'label' that will be displayed on some plots.

5 . OK buttonOK button

Once everything is selected, press the OK button.
